Cleanliness Drive
Volunteer-led cleaning along the banks at Sadar Ghat — collecting and segregating waste with civic authorities.
Awareness & Cleaning Campaign
A three-day citizen-led movement to revive Kolkata's sacred waterway — where environmental responsibility meets cultural stewardship.
The Sacred Channel
Adi Ganga, the historic channel of the River Ganges flowing through Kolkata, holds immense cultural, religious, and environmental significance.
Years of rapid urbanisation, indiscriminate waste disposal, and environmental degradation have taken their toll on this sacred waterway. Its revival demands collective action and active public participation.
World Environment Day gives us the ideal platform to raise awareness about conserving our natural water bodies — and to inspire responsible, sustainable practices among every citizen.

What We're Doing
Every volunteer, devotee and resident has a role to play in restoring Adi Ganga. Here's how the campaign comes together.
Volunteer-led cleaning along the banks at Sadar Ghat — collecting and segregating waste with civic authorities.
Art of Living volunteers engage devotees and residents on Adi Ganga's heritage and responsible waste management.
Visitors and citizens pledge to protect and conserve Adi Ganga and other water bodies for generations to come.
Residents, institutions, temple visitors, activists and youth come together to foster collective ownership.
Programme
The campaign runs from the morning of 5th June to the evening of 7th June — a cleaning drive by day, devotion by evening.
Opening on World Environment Day from 7 AM, flagged off by the Chief Guest. Cleaning and awareness activities begin along the banks.
The cleanliness drive continues through the day, followed by an evening Bhajan Jamming session at the ghat.
The concluding day closes with a Bhajan Jamming session and, around 6:00 PM, the Adi Ganga Puja and Aarti.
